Historic Hotels
There are many hotels in Norway which have long traditions in providing hospitality for tourists and have often been run by the same family for generations. Many of these hotels are beautiful old wooden buildings and each has its own unique but distinctively Norwegian character.
The Historic Hotels group has many member hotels of this type thoughout most of the southern part of Norway, including the western fjord area. Details of all of them can be seen at www.dehistoriske.com.
Some good and very popular examples of the Historic Hotels group are Kviknes Hotel on the Sognefjord, and Fleischers Hotel at Voss, an hour or so by train or car inland from Bergen.
There are also many smaller hotels of this type which choose to stay independent. Some good examples are the Visnes Hotel on the Nordfjord, and the Sandven Hotel on the Hardangerfjord.
If you like this type of hotel we can plan a complete itinerary for you using them as the theme, which will allow you to experience something of the unique and traditional aspects of Norwegian culture and hospitality..
