Many cottages have their own private water frontage and often a boat included or available to rent.

We have been renting holiday homes in Norway for many years and can offer a very personalised service to help you choose the property that suits you best. Finding the right property in the right place will make sure you have the best holiday experience possible. We do not charge any booking fees for this service.

The rental agency Novasol normally has the best choice and we are their main independent UK agent. We have many year’s experience of renting their properties so we know which ones are popular and have been recommended by our guests.

You may like to try your own search on the Novasol web site. If you would like to book a Novasol property just follow the booking procedure on the web site and the house will be held on an option for you for a few days. We will be informed and will then contact you to confirm the details.and arrange payment. If you have any questions about the property please send us an email or give us a call.

Alternatively we can find a selection of properties for you if you let us know your requirements, preferred dates and any travel plans. We will either send property details as an attached file with an email, or if there are a lot to choose from we will email a list of property reference numbers for you to look at on the Novasol web site. You can then use the Novasol search by housenumber facility.to look at the details of individual houses. This will show you availability over a range of dates and also give you access to extra photos.

Unfortunately there are no longer any brochures printed in English, but if you do not have regular internet access we can print out property details and send them by post if required.

Choosing and booking a holiday home in Norway

We can find a property for you on request, but if you want to have a look at what is available online you can visit the following web sites. If you want to make a booking, please contact us. It won't cost you any more, we can give you some advice or a recommendation, and we can help you put together your whole itinerary if you wish.

We can hold any property on an option for a few days if you need time to confirm or decide on travel arrangements.

Novasol  has by far the widest choice of properties, especially in the fjord area. Also good for log cabins in winter.

Dancenter  has a good selection throughout Norway, particularly in Southern Norway and Lofoten.

Fretheim Fjordhytter  Four privately-owned chalets and a larger farmhouse by the Sognefjord in the village of Flam at the end of the famous mountain railway. High standard, wonderful location, easily accessible by car or public transport, frequently recommended by our guests. The owners’ web site gives full details and prices, which also apply if book through us.

A log cabin in winter is ideal for an idyllic family holiday , whether you enjoy being on skis or not.

Campsite cabins and chalets

If you don't want to stay for a week in one place many campsites in Norway have 'camping hytter' which can be rented for any number of nights. You will get much better value for money booking a cottage on a weekly basis though, especially in low season. It can often be cheaper pay a weekly rate even if you don’t stay the whole period, but campsite cabins can be very useful if you want to move around, or if you need a short self-catering stay to suit ferry or flight dates.  Even the most basic cabins are a comfortable, weatherproof and inexpensive alternative to a tent.

Prices and standards range from about £25 per night for a small cabin with basic equipment and communal toilet and washing facilities, to about £85 per night for a high standard, self-contained 2 bedroom chalet.  The more basic cabins do not normally need to be booked in advance but the higher standard ones are less common and will need to be booked in advance in peak season.

Some parts of Norway are covered better by other rental agencies and in a few places we can make bookings direct with the property owners.

Typical rental costs are between £350 and £950 per week according to the size, standard and season, but there are many budget and luxury properties outside of this range.

The usual rental period is Saturday to Saturday in mid and high season (June - August and in the main winter holidays). In low season other start and finish days are possible and some will permit stays of less than a week.
